Recently I donated a cake to a girl living with cystic fibrosis. She has a passion for NASA, so I made her a 2 tiered space themed cake complete with a tiny replica of a NASA space shuttle in her favorite flavors: carrot and lemon. I didn't get the chance to meet her, but her mom came to pick it up and tears welled up in her eyes when she saw the cake. She told me a little about what it was like to have a child with CF and the struggles they deal with. She knows that her life will probably be cut short because of her disease, so these birthdays are a really big deal. It was an incredible feeling to know that in simply doing something that I love, I was positively impacting the lives of a child and her family. She would never be able to pay for a specialty custom cake such as the one I made for her, and with the great work of this organization, other kids like her can be positively impacted too! It's the little things that go a long way!
